Additional Services

  • All Contractors are required by the State to pass this exam. For some limited specialty licenses, this is the only exam required. However, all types of contractor licenses that cover more than one limited area of work require you to pass both the Business and law Exam and a trade exam in order to obtain a license.
  • Licenses requiring ONLY the Business and Law Exam are: Asphalt Contractor, Cable Television, Communication & Sound, Demolition Contractor, Drywall Contractor, Fencing Contractor, Finish Carpentry, Fire Protection (Wet, Dry, or Combined), Floor Covering Contractor, Insulation Contractor, Landscaping Contractor, Low Voltage Systems Contractor, Painting Contractor, Residential Pools Contractor, Roofing Contractor, Siding Contractor, Sign Contractor (Non-Electrical), Underground Transmission Lines, Window Installation Contractor, Other Specialties may be available from the Board.
  • NOTICE: CHANGE IN TESTING AGENT

The Business and Law exam can stand alone for those specialty licenses that only require this exam to be taken.  Only 3 designated specialties may be listed for a Specialty Contractor license.

The Business and Law exam is required  for all major classifications in addition to the specific trade exam.

The State has no reciprocity agreements for this license.

There is no continuing education required for this license at this time.

  • PSI  will be conducting exam services for the state of West Virginia beginning November 1, 2022

         

      The Business Law exam is a 50 question, open-book test with 3-hours to complete and 70% to pass.

  • The exam fee is $47.50
