An application form must be submitted to the board before testing.
There are no specific experience requirements in Louisiana.
Completion of the Louisiana Business Law course is required for licensure
A financial statement showing a net worth of at least $50,000 (within 12 months of filing date) prepared by a CPA, Accountant or Bookkeeper, for those wishing to perform work on a construction undertaking where the entire cost of the project is $50,000.00 or more.
Allows a contractor to construct highways, streets, bridges and all related work as well as to perform general earthwork, and general paving such as sidewalks, driveways and parking lots.

Louisiana states that if an individual holds a license in any other state for a classification that required a trade exam to be passed, LA will accept that exam for reciprocity for whatever classification LSLBC deems to be equivalent.

Effective August 5, 2025, all trade examinations will transition to PSI Services LLC (PSI).
The Exam fee are $140.00 per exam.
The Louisiana Highway, Streets & Bridges Contractor exam is open-book with 80 multiple choice questions, equires 70% to pass and has a 220 minute time limit.
Exam Content: Paving-Asphalt, Piles, Excavation & Grading, Concrete Paving, Safety, One-Call, Traffic Control, Concrete, Metals including Concrete reimforcement, Erosion & Sedimentation Control, Tunneling, Project Management & Estimating.
American Contractors does not currently offer a seminar for the Louisiana Highway, Streets & Bridges Contractor at this time. We do carry many valuable references to study in preparation for the exam.
