Remodeling or repair of an existing residential structure or appurtenance except for electrical, plumbing, mechanical, boilers, swimming pools or spas and water wells, which must be subcontracted to an appropriately licensed contractor.


The scope of work allowed under the CR7 carpentry classification is included within this scope. This classification does not include work authorized by the A, B1, or B2 scopes.


For projects of $50,000 or less, this classification allows the licensee, on existing structures, to install or repair rough carpentry, finish carpentry, roofing, hardware, millwork, metal studs, metal doors or door frames. Work related to electrical, plumbing, air conditioning systems, boilers, swimming pools, spas and water wells must be subcontracted to an appropriately licensed contractor.

Applicants are required to have 4 years of verifiable experience and must pass the Arizona Business Management Exam in addition to the Arizona Remodeling and Repair exam.

PSI Exams

Rather than reciprocal agreements with other states, Arizona waives the trade exam for any applicant who has been the qualifying party within the last 5 years for a license in good standing in a classification the Registrar deems equivalelnt in another state, and passed a comaprable trade exam to obtain that license.

 

Arizona does not currently have Continuing Education requirements

The exam is given by PSI.

The exam has 75 questions, 3-hr time limit and requires 70% to pass. It is a semi open-book test.

The Business Management exam is also required to be passed.

American Contractors carries all of the exam materials needed to pass the Arizona Remodeling and Repair exam as well as the Business Management exam as well.  We do not currently offer a seminar.
