Contractors License Overview
Plumbers are the only contractors that must be licensed at the state level in Indiana. Any other licensing/registration for construction work is generally done on the city or county level.
To be an apprentice plumber, you must be 17 years old or older and registered in an approved apprenticeship program.
To qualify to become a journeyman plumber, you must have at least 4 years in an apprenticeship program or be a licensed plumber in another state.
To qualify to become a plumbing contractor, you must have at least 4 years in an apprenticeship program, be a licensed plumber in another state, or have 4 years in the plumbing business under a licensed plumbing contractor.
After journeyman and contractor applicants submit an application, they will have to pass an exam administered by Prov.
