Contractors License Overview
- Roofing contractors are the only contractors that must be licensed at the state level in Illinois. Any other licensing/registration for construction work is generally done on the city or county level.
- To get a roofing contractor license, applicants must first submit an application for approval and then pass an exam administered by the Illinois Dept. of Financial and Professional Regulation.
